This position will work hand-in-hand with the Recycling Project Manager to plan and implement campus-wide recycling education and training.

The Training Specialist will be responsible for developing a training program and training Housing and Residence Life staff (Housekeeping, Facilities, and RAs/Education Coordinators), developing a training program for Green Event/Zero Waste Events, and developing a training and information program for Academic/Administrative areas.

As a quarter of the student population changes every year, these are areas that require consistent training and educational efforts in order to ensure that campus residents, students, and staff are correctly doing their part of helping the University achieve their sustainability goals.

Minimum Education/Experience
Graduation from a four year college or university and one year of program associate experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Essential Job Duties
1. Build positive relationships with Building Liaisons, all levels of Building Environmental Services and Recycling staff ( BES &R), other communication/education-focused positions, and facilities staff (Facilities Maintenance (FM), Housing, and other areas) in order to better facilitate educational needs on campus.
2. Provide education and outreach efforts for existing recycling programs, including academic/administrative buildings and Housing & Residence Life.
3. Work with other FM training and education staff, along with BES &R administrative staff to develop and provide recycling and advancement training for BES &R technicians.
4. Work with BES &R administrative staff to develop a training program for Green Events and Zero Waste Events.
5. Educate the campus on the role that BES &R staff play in campus operations.

Other Work Responsibilities
1. Assist with waste audits and with the Zero Waste Football program.
2. Assist with administration of campus waste contract.
3. Provide presentations to campus and off-campus groups, both on and off-site.
4. May require occasional travel to give presentations at conferences off-site.

8. Perform other related duties as assigned or delegated.

Departmental Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education
1. Excellent communication skills, strong organizational skills, strong interpersonal and collaborative problem solving skills and program development skills.
2. Ability to perform work both indoor and outdoor environment in all types of weather and assist with waste audits and visually assess dumpsters and waste containers.
